Help, answers, and how to reach us. StarterPhone turns your child's iPhone into a calls-and-texts-only starter phone using Apple's Screen Time technology, all on the device.
How do I set it up?
Open StarterPhone on your child's phone, tap Continue and allow Screen Time access, choose which apps stay allowed, then set a parent passcode. Tap Turn On Starter Phone Mode to shield everything else.
Do I need to give my child an Apple ID or use Family Sharing?
No. Setup happens directly on the device with individual Screen Time authorization. No child Apple ID, no Family Sharing, no account.
Phone and Messages are always available?
Yes. Phone and Messages stay usable so your child can always reach you. Everything outside your allow-list is shielded.
How do School and Bedtime schedules work?
Create a schedule, pick its days, set a start and end time, and choose its allowed apps. The shield turns on and off automatically during that window.
My schedule isn't turning on.
iOS requires each scheduled window to be at least 15 minutes long; shorter windows can't be scheduled. Open Scheduled profiles and check the Status line, which shows how many windows are active and any error.
I see "Screen Time access was turned off."
Open Settings → Screen Time and make sure it's on, then reopen StarterPhone. The app re-checks access each time you open it.
Can a determined teenager bypass it?
A factory reset defeats any software lock. StarterPhone is commitment help, made harder to bypass with a parent passcode; it is not an absolute guarantee.
Is my child's data collected?
No. Nothing leaves the device. No account, no tracking, no ads, no third-party analytics. See our Privacy Policy.
How do I manage or cancel Pro?
Pro is an auto-renewable subscription (a one-time lifetime option is also available). Manage or cancel anytime in your iPhone's Settings → your name → Subscriptions.
